Docuseries looks into Victoria’s Secret
    2021-02-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A THREE-PART documentary series delving into the lingerie empire, “The Rise and Fall of Victoria’s Secret” is set to premiere on Hulu next year.

Directed by Matt Tyrnauer, who helmed 2008’s “Valentino: The Last Emperor,” the limited series will go behind the scenes of the lingerie brand, using first-hand accounts and deep investigative research to reveal the inner workings of the Victoria’s Secret brand and the cultural institution, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Production is already underway with a release slated for early 2022. Film 45, director Peter Berg’s company, is producing. Plans for the project were first revealed in March 2020 by Deadline.

The outlet said the series will trace Victoria’s Secret’s journey from a mail-order undergarment company to a retail giant that later became entangled in controversy.

In recent years, the company came under fire after a New York Times investigation uncovered its history of misogynistic, toxic workplace behavior, and when its connections to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein were revealed.

However, the brand’s relevance and cultural impact were already being questioned before then. As the public continued to embrace body positivity, diversity and inclusion, the brand received criticism for its limited sizing and for casting mostly thin, white models.

The company canceled its famous Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2019 and said that it plans to “evolve.”
