Sang-young Seong Global Economic News Girl group Blackpink member Rosé started a solo career five years after her debut. This is Blackpink’s second member, following Jenny to debut solo. An online press conference was held on Friday to mark the release of Rosé’s first solo single album “R.” On the day, Rosé delivered her solo debut greeting, saying, “I’m excited to be able to finally show you the things I’ve been preparing. Thank you to Blink, who has been waiting for a long time, and I hope you like it a lot.” She commented, “I wanted to prepare an album people would enjoy as fans have been waiting for a long time. So I tried to participate in every aspect from the beginning, and the album design reflects my opinion, the lyrics, etc.” The album title “R” signifies another beginning of Rosé, taking her first steps as solo artist. There are two title songs “On The Ground” and “Gone.” In both songs, Rosé participated in the creation of lyrics which added authenticity. She explained, “ As a solo artist, I wanted to be the most honest person I’ve ever been since I introduced myself to the public for the first time.” Regarding the background of the selection of these two songs, she said, “Sometimes there are songs that come like destiny, and ‘Gone’ was first recorded two years ago. That moment is still memorable. I received a file from my oppa Teddy and listened to it a lot. I also heard ‘On the Ground’ for the first time a few months ago and I really liked it.” |
