As of March 1, Yunhai School in Yantian District has been offering after-school services to first and second graders in the school. One of the first schools in the city to pilot free-of-charge after-school services, the new services have won praise from both students and parents. Preparations for the after-school services began at the end of last semester. An after-school services group was formed to prepare a concrete implementation plan, under the guidance of which the school was able to carry out promotion of the program through multiple channels including its official WeChat account and Q&A sessions. Out of almost 100 courses the school is offering, Peking opera, aerobics and programming were chosen based on survey results received from students and parents. Participation is purely optional, and registration can be done at home by a smart phone or a computer. The school is also actively establishing an after-school services evaluation system to solicit advice from students and parents in a bid to improve its after-class services. (Yu Yuanfan) |
