Parcel deliveries

THE courier delivery industry handled a total of 760 million parcels in the first two months of the year, up by 44.7 percent year on year, statistics from Shenzhen Postal Administration showed.

The revenue was 9.4 billion yuan (US$1.44 billion), up by 44 percent. The intra-city deliveries reached 120 million parcels between January and February, up by 29.7 percent. The cross-city deliveries reached 520 million parcels, up by 46.8 percent. The deliveries of international parcels reached 120 million, up by 53.5 percent.

App-based cab drivers

THE numbers of app-based cab drivers and licensed vehicles in Shenzhen ranked No. 2 and No. 5 among Chinese cities, statistics from the Ministry of Transportation showed.

As of Feb. 28, 222 app-based service platforms had obtained business operation permits in the country and a total of 3.29 million copies of driver’s certificates had been issued.

Thirteen platforms operate in Shenzhen and 116,200 driver’s certificates have been issued, including 38,300 certificates for traditional fuel-powered cabs.
