THE Wulanmuqi Art Troupe from North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has dedicated to promote red culture and nomadic culture throughout the growth of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Republic of China. In order to enrich the herdsmen’s monotonic life with rare books, performances and movies, the art troupe entitled “Ulaan Mochir” (Wulanmuqi) in Mongolian was founded in 1957. At that time, the group only had nine members who presented a marvelous show in front of a herdsman’s yurt with only five musical instruments, two curtains and three gas lamps. Now the troupe has become a leading figure of creating thoughtful artworks and epochal characters. (Chen Siqi) |
