Ji-Wan Nam Global Economic News HYUNDAI Glovis Co., the logistics subsidiary under South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group, has decided to join other logistics companies to re-route and steer its vessel to go around the Cape of Good Hope, due to the Suez Canal blockage. According to the industry in South Korea, Hyundai Glovis made the final decision to re-route its non-regular liner traversing between Asia and Europe to bypass the Cape of Good Hope. Hyundai Glovis said it will have its vessel carrying fully built vehicles adjust its speed to detour around the Cape of Good Hope instead of entering the Suez Canal. The ship currently heading to Europe will sail around the Cape of Good Hope and will stop by at major European ports such as the port of Koper in Slovenia. The detour around the Cape of Good Hope is expected to prolong the ship’s sailing time for up to seven days. “We have decided to have the ship travelling back and forth from Asia to Europe to detour around the Cape of Good Hope,” said Hyundai Glovis.(SD-Agencies) |
