Explore dazzling gems at Jewelry Museum of Shenzhen
    2021-04-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The Jewelry Museum of Shenzhen has more than 2,000 exhibits and its permanent exhibition has five parts, namely “Treasure of Nature,” “Art of Jewelry,” “Light of Design,” “Road of Shenzhen” and “Dream of Greater Bay.”

The “Treasure of Nature” session showcases various natural gems and precious metals. Visitors can also enjoy an immersive video to find out the stories of natural gemstones.

The “Art of Jewelry” session features jewelry of ancient times, such as sophisticated silver and gold pieces, filigree artifacts, enamel wares, and art ware made with “diancui,” the craftsmanship of gluing a plucked kingfisher feather onto gold or gilt silver to create an iridescent effect.

The “Light of Design” session presents jewelry designs that reproduce the beauty of ancient Chinese poetry, or provoke further thinking on topics such as the relations between human bodies and plants.

The “Road of Shenzhen” session includes a projected 3D model combined with virtual simulation and other technologies to create a panorama of Shuibei and a photo exhibition that marks the development of the jewelry industry in Shenzhen.

The “Dream of Greater Bay” session shows the achievements of the jewelry industry in the Greater Bay Area. Visitors can also experience various technologies such as 3D printing and electroplating and make customized rings and other jewelry pieces at the museum.

Visitors can enjoy the experience of interacting with cranes and deer on a digital screen. The museum has a library that includes thousands of books about jewelry and has an accessible database of the jewelry industry.
