Renaissance Shenzhen Luohu Hotel new star Chef Wilson reveals authentic Hunan cuisine

THE Renaissance Shenzhen Luohu Hotel Food studio restaurant located on the second floor launched new theme concept of Hunan cuisine. The hotel’s special location and surroundings along with its authentic cuisine inspire foodies to explore Luohu’s unique dining experiences.

Chef Wilson infuses all his culinary passion and enthusiasm into the cuisine. Shaped by his experiences of growing up in Hunan, he has cultivated a deep and excellent understanding of Hunan cuisine through years of training and exploration. Ever since he started his chef career, he has always adhered strictly to traditional methods and techniques to retain the essence of Hunan cuisine in his food, while constantly seeking to incorporate innovative ideas into traditional recipes so as to excite food connoisseurs with delightful gastronomical experiences.

By using local seasonal ingredients, respecting time-honored culinary traditions, and integrating the culinary essences of other cuisines, Chef Wilson has mastered the art of blending them to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients.

Dongting Lake Spicy Fish Head is one of the traditional dishes in Hunan cuisine, and also Chef Wilson’s signature dish, using a premier mackerel head with his secret recipe of handmade chili sauces cooked in a steamer for 15 minutes, then out of the pot and doused with hot chili oil; the fragrance alone makes you feel your mouth melting and the fish itself tastes soft and juicy.

The Fired Green Pepper and Pork dish seems to be a simple food, but his preparation is an interpretation of the classic of Hunan cuisine. Chef Wilson chooses Hunan local chili and specific cuts of the pork, adds the essence of Liuyang bean and stir-fries them together.

To prepare Stir-fried Bean Tofu and Celery, he chooses Hunan local bean tofu and squeezes out the water to make the tofu taste softer, and brings out the aroma of celery.

Xiangxi Duck is made with selected high-quality duck meat and duck blood, mixed with traditional Hunan cuisine ingredients, such as peppers, resulting in a crispy and refreshing, spicy and salty Hunan cuisine experience.

The restaurant features traditional Chinese-style tables and set-up to make the dining environment more comfortable.
