Public toilets now a beautiful sight
    2021-04-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN scored 88.75 in the sanitation index in March, up 0.72 points from February, according to a report released by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau yesterday.

The score for the on-site check in March was 89.92, while the resident satisfaction index was 79.06.

The data showed that the sanitation situation at six types of venues, including public toilets, garbage transfer stations, parks and construction sites, scored over 90 points. Better performance in sanitation has been seen at public toilets.

Since the launch of the “toilet revolution” in 2018, Shenzhen has been harvesting the fruits of its efforts to improve toilet sanitation, said Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

The index of public toilet sanitation has grown from the previous 60.67, all the way to 89.23. Public toilets have now become a much more beautiful sight in the city, said the report.

Meanwhile, though the sanitation situation at garbage collection sites, urban villages and trade markets has improved, these three types of locations scored below 85, ranking lower than other venues.

In terms of district performance, Futian and Dapeng have been the top two for three consecutive months, followed by Guangming in third. However, Pingshan, Longgang and Nanshan have remained at the bottom.

The top three subdistricts are Huaqiangbei, Lianhua and Fubao, while Pinghu, Yuehai and Kengzi remain at the bottom. A total of 74 subdistricts across the city scored over 80, 22 of which gained a score of over 90.

Districts and subdistricts in top positions all issued comprehensive methods to address and supervise sanitation situation. (Wang Jingli)
