Pizzazz 活力、魅力
    2021-04-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: What did you do over the weekend?

B: I went to watch a movie. The young actress starring as the lead is full of pizzazz.

A: What’s the movie you watched?

B: It’s called “My Sister.”

Note: This slang term means “the quality of being exciting or attractive,” similar to “glamour.” It originated in the 1910s and originally meant an expert or an exemplar, according to Cassell’s Dictionary of Slang. In the 1920s, the meaning evolved into style, glamour, or ostentation. By the 1930s, it was being used to mean energy or zest. The Oxford English Dictionary says it’s frequently attributed to Diana Vreeland, the late fashion maven.
