Father heartfully thanks son’s rescuers
    2021-04-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN 11-year-old boy was saved by more than 20 passers-by from a car accident last month. The boy’s father has donated 20,000 yuan (US$3,079) to Shenzhen Foundation for Justice and Courage to show his gratefulness to the warmhearted people, sources from the foundation said recently.

“I deeply appreciate those kind people’s help,” the boy’s father, surnamed Yang, told a reporter with Shenzhen Special Zone Daily. He showed his intention to find the Good Samaritans who lent helping hands to his son, adding that he will never forget the trembling moment as well as the rescue.

At 7:46 p.m. March 20, the boy, identified as Ruirui, riding a bicycle bumped into a car at a crosswalk on Qianhai Road, Nanshan District. He fell on the ground with his left foot crushed under a car’s wheel.

First, a few passers-by stepped forward to lift the car. Then, more people joined in the rescue as they noticed the accident. In less than one minute, the car was lifted and Ruirui was saved and sent to the hospital.

The boy broke his left foot in the accident and is now able to walk with the help of a cane after a monthlong rest. Ruirui’s doctor praised the passers-by for the timely rescue, saying that if the car moved forward or backward a bit, Ruirui’s foot would be permanently impaired. “These Good Samaritans saved my child’s life,” Yang said.

After media reports, Ruirui’s family contacted a driver surnamed Zhang, one of the Good Samaritans, and sent flowers to him personally.

Yang is still looking for the other rescuers and will express his gratitude in person upon getting in touch with every single of them.  (Chen Siqi)
