Students from Yucai First Primary School in Nanshan District recently got aboard the scientific research ship “Hai Yang Di Zhi Jiu Hao” and participated in a livestreaming event to learn knowledge about ocean and maritime safety. The event, which was jointly organized by nine institutes including the Shekou Maritime Safety Administration, Shekou Customs and the Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology (QIMG), was also live-streamed to online visitors so that they had a chance to get a glimpse of the equipment and scientific achievements on board. In an online meeting with Qingdao, staff from the Shekou Maritime Safety Administration introduced water traffic safety and ocean protection knowledge to students attending in person and online. Personnel from Shekou Customs then gave a lecture on the hazards of invasions by alien species and how to prevent their invasion. According to the administration, the event was intended to help students care for, love and know about the ocean and enhance their awareness of water safety and ocean protection. Through this event, students also gained a better understanding of China’s achievements in marine science and technology. (Yang Mei) |
