SHENZHEN will start a four-day Party congress tomorrow that will set the tone for its long-term strategic development and decide the makeup of the city’s new Party leadership.
The 7th congress of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee will take place between tomorrow and Friday, a news conference by the preparatory group said yesterday.
The congress will elect a new leadership, the 7th CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, on its closing day. Members of the new leadership will meet the press on the day, Zheng Ke, deputy Party chief of Shenzhen and vice head of the leading group of the preparatory team of the congress, said at yesterday’s conference.
The new leadership of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee will also be elected.
The congress will also hear and review reports by the 6th CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and its disciplinary inspection commission.
“The work reports to be delivered at the congress will follow the main line of Shenzhen’s historic mission in the new era commissioned by the CPC Central Committee, centering on and highlighting the strategies of building Shenzhen into a demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics, as well as the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and implementation of comprehensive reform programs,” said Zheng.
The congress will map out the development goals, strategic trajectories and action plans in the coming five years or even a longer period, Zheng said.
Among 630 delegates who will attend the congress, 227 will be front-line workers, 13 military representatives, 222 women and 40 ethnic group representatives. A total of 410 delegates are no more than 50 years old, with the oldest at 65 and the youngest 26. |
