    2021-04-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SU BINGTIAN of China clocked 9.98 seconds to win the men’s 100-meter race in Zhaoqing, South China’s Guangdong Province, on Saturday.

Su’s winning mark is the fifth fastest result on the World Athletics top list of the season. It was his second 100m race of the year as he also clocked 10.05 last month in building up for the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

The last time Su registered a sub-10 second mark was in August 2018, when he clocked 9.92 to claim the gold medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 31-year-old who jointly holds the men’s 100m Asian record of 9.91, recorded 10.16 to lead the preliminaries in the morning. He went on to wrap up a convincing victory in 9.98 in the all-Chinese event.

Su’s national teammate Xie Zhenye, who has a personal best of 9.97, finished second in 10.16, followed by Liang Jinsheng at 10.38.(Xinhua)
