Macao Arts Fest returns after a year’s absence
    2021-04-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2021 Macao Arts Festival –themed “Restart” – is making a comeback with a cavalcade of events from Macao and the mainland.

This year’s arts festival will take center stage for a month featuring scores of performances and shows as well as outreach activities that will spread throughout the city.

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the 31st Macao Arts Festival will run from Friday to May 29. Last year’s festival was canceled due to COVID-19, so the 2021 edition is aptly themed “Restart.”

IC president Mok Ian said the festival would focus on productions from Macao and the mainland.

The program features almost 100 events, including “White Snake” by Lin Zhaohua, “Dream of a Red Chamber” by Jin Xin Dance Theater from Shanghai, and “Boss for a Day” by the Dóci Papiaçám di Macao Drama Group which performs in Macao’s endangered Patuá Creole. There will also be a scenography exhibition, family-friendly performances and cultural diversity shows, as well as outreach activities.

More information is available at www.icm.gov.mo/fam or on the “Macao Arts Festival” Facebook page or through the bureau’s official WeChat account (IC_Art_Macao). (SD-Agencies)
