A lesser sand plover (L) and a grey-spotted flycatcher. Two lesser sand plovers and a grey-spotted flycatcher, two kinds of migrant birds, were spotted at Shenzhen Talent Park and Futian Mangrove Ecological Park, respectively during the May Day holiday during events organized by Shenzhen Bird Watching Society. One of the two lesser sand plovers was from Australia spending winter in Shenzhen and will fly to Siberia in Russia soon. The grey-spotted flycatcher also stopped over the city after it just finished its winter in Southeast Asia and will fly to the forests in Northeast China. The bird enthusiasts also spotted a wide range of birds in the city during the holiday, including little egrets, cattle egrets and spotted doves. The season for appreciating migrant birds in Shenzhen is almost coming to an end as summer comes, but there are still more than 200 resident birds to be admired.
