Han Ximin ximhan@126.com THE number of accidents and fatalities in Shenzhen in the January-April period dropped by 13.59 percent and 27.6 percent, respectively, compared with the previous cycle between September and December 2020. The number of accidents and fatalities also dropped by 30.26 percent and 26.92 percent, respectively, compared with the same period in 2019, according to data released by Shenzhen’s traffic police bureau yesterday. Fatalities involving e-bikes dropped by 12.5 percent since the city implemented a number of measures March 11 for risk reduction on the roads. In the first four months, police received more than 26,000 congestion-related reports, down by 28.52 percent over the same period last year. “So far this year, the city has realized its goals of having zero major traffic accidents on roads and during holidays. During the May Day holiday, the city had zero deaths related to traffic incidents,” Feng Xinyi, deputy chief of Shenzhen’s traffic police bureau, said at a news conference yesterday. |
