A delegation from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ) recently fetched the championship of the Central and South China division of the 4th China Undergraduate Physics Tournament (CUPT). The HITSZ students beat their 11 counterparts at the tournament with a total score of 129.63 points. They were also the champion of the division in last year’s tournament. The delegation includes sophomore and senior students from HITSZ’s School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation and School of Computer Science and Technology and is led by tutors from the university’s Education Center of Experiments and Innovations. Inspired by the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT), the CUPT is a national physics tournament participated by undergraduate students. The contestants are required to work in teams to put the knowledge they’ve learned into practice through designing and conducting experiments, assembling equipment, analyzing results, writing reports and making presentations.
