Movie review of ‘Your Name’
    2021-05-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Do you know what is crueler than death? The answer is living in the world but forgetting who you love. The Japanese animation film “Your Name” demonstrates that “all of the encounters in life are the reunions after long-time separations.” The film strikes every viewer’s heart deeply and motivates people to express their love bravely.

Mitsuha, a girl in high school, was born into a Japanese Shinto family. She lives in a rural town with her grandma and a little sister.

Her mayor father moved out of her family’s shrine after her mother died, and the old custom of the shrine troubled her. So she wishes to be a cool boy living in Tokyo if she could have a next life.

What surprised Mitsuha the most was that, one day in the morning, she swapped bodies with a teenage boy named Taki, who was a student in Tokyo. Both of them gradually realized that they had exchanged souls and adapted to each other’s life.

They wrote down diaries including their interesting experiences, making their hearts closer day by day. In order to meet each other, they started their journeys and found a shocking secret of the universe.

The beautiful natural scenes in the animation are very realistic and enjoyable.

Moreover, the background music is so fantastic! It conveys the characters’ feelings and emotions perfectly. These two elements work together to create an audio-visual feast that permeates the mind and makes the color of the world appear to be brighter and clearer.

Undoubtedly, the film spreads love and warmth to people. Although we are sometimes perplexed by the fast speed of our lives nowadays, “Your Name” teaches us never to lose hope and to keep passion in life.

It advocates us to cherish people around us, not to hide our love for them, and be brave to tell them how important they are and how much we adore them.

As the film explains, “We are the time travelers and l won’t lose you anymore.” While the sun still shines, go and find the person you are looking for.
