CONSTRUCTION on the Penguin Island project, Tencent’s global headquarters in Dachan Bay in western Shenzhen, has officially started recently.

With a total investment of 37 billion yuan (US$5.74 billion) and construction area of 2 million square meters, the project is planned to be an Internet+Future Technology City, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

Phase I of the project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation before 2025.

Located on 809,000 square meters of land, the project includes innovative industrial housing, commercial and living facilities, science and technology exhibition halls, as well as data and smart control centers.
