Wang Jingli wangjingli0715@163.com Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) each hosted a commencement ceremony for their 2021 graduates on Saturday. A total of 235 students including 213 undergraduate students and 28 postgraduate students successfully graduated from SZTU. These students are also SZTU’s first batch of graduates, according to SZTU. SUSTech had 934 students from Bachelor’s degree programs and 203 students from Master’s degree programs graduate this year. The 203 students are SUSTech’s first batch of postgraduates independently cultivated by the school. Given the pandemic, both the two ceremonies were held simultaneously online. In his keynote speech at the ceremony on Saturday, Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, buoyed up students to embrace uncertainties, be brave to think big, and put thoughts into action to embark on the next journey. Special guest to SUSTech’s commencement ceremony, Chen Wei, a Chinese military medical scientist, delivered a speech via a video link, where she encouraged students to become new talent to help achieve national rejuvenation. Xue Qikun, president of SUSTech, hoped students will bear the missions of our times and shoulder the responsibility to enhance the country’s technological power. SUSTech’s 130 of the new graduates and 13 students from SZTU were honored as outstanding graduates of 2021 during the ceremonies. |
