An Amazon listing has revealed that the next Lego Super Mario expansion will be Bowser’s Airship and when the Luigi Starter Course launches on August 1, it will bring with it a new way to play: two-player mode. Mario made his first foray into the Lego world to celebrate his 35th anniversary last year and it is already evident that the initial set continues to perform well. Bowser’s Airship will be the biggest addition to the collection so far at an impressive 1,152 pieces. It will also be the most expensive, listed at US$99.99 on Amazon. It’s a sizable model, with some really nifty features. The front of the ship sports a brick-built replica of Bowser’s face, along the sides are cannons, and the back of the ship has some classic detailing. What really stands out about this model, though, are its mechanisms. The Airship will have a folding mechanism, allowing it to be arranged in “flying mode” or folded out in “course mode.” When unfolded, the Airship course will be more than 35 centimeters long and include a space that Mario and Luigi will be able to jump around. It looks like it also comes with a Magikoopa and an adorable Goomba wearing a pirate’s hat. However, Mario and Luigi will not be included in the Airship set (71391), so their respective starter packs (Mario: 71360, Luigi: 71387) need to be bought separately. A Luigi starter set will join the collection on August 1. Mario and Luigi will connect to each other via Bluetooth, which will enable them to communicate and react to each other. They will talk to each other, collect coins in sync, and jump and move together. Alternatively, they can also compete against each other, with two players vying to collect the most coins. Lego is also releasing a whole raft of new sets, including Lakitu’s Sky World (71389), Sumo Bro Topple Tower (71388), Reznor’s Knockdown (71390).(SD-Agencies) |
