Ltd, an LED panel light manufacturer, applied online for the electronic version of the Certificate of Origin on July 1, the first day of issuance of the certificate’s electronic version under the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), with Thailand as the destination country. Following review and approval by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen), the company printed the Certificate of Origin bearing CCPIT Shenzhen’s electronic seal. “It is much convenient for us to complete the application online, without necessarily going to the service counter of CCPIT Shenzhen,” said the company’s manager, who declined to be named. The Certificate of Origin is called the “Economic Passport” and it has a promoting effect on enhancing Chinese enterprises’ competitiveness in the international market and expanding exports. E-certificate holders can enjoy tariff concessions of their products under CAFTA. The e-certificate can be issued at CCPIT service counters or through the enterprise terminal of the CCPIT Shenzhen computer system. Overseas organizations and clients can also print the Certificate of Origin online, saving costs and time for international deliveries, reducing enterprises’ operation costs and risks of COVID-19 infections during this time period. CCPIT Shenzhen offers 13 types of Certificate of Origin for DIY service and 325,000 copies had been printed in the first half of the year, taking up 88 percent of the total issuances. |
