Baby capybaras born at safari park
    2021-07-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A capybara and her newborns. The female capybara gave birth to a litter of six, with each weighing about 1 kilogram, at Shenzhen Safari Park on Tuesday. Healthy and lively, the six pups can now move around freely. The biggest rodent on Earth, capybaras are semi-aquatic mammals found throughout much of northern and central South America. Like beavers, capybaras are strong swimmers. Their pig-shaped bodies are adapted for life in bodies of water found in forests, seasonally flooded savannas and wetlands. They mainly feed on grass and aquatic plants. Capybaras were introduced to Shenzhen Safari Park in 2018 and the first babies were born in 2019. Li Musheng
