The Mawan large tunnel boring machine (TBM) is being used to construct the Mawan Cross-Sea Passage, Shenzhen’s first sea tunnel, Thursday. It is the first TBM to start work on the 8.05-kilometer tunnel, which will connect Qianhai’s Mawan area with Dachan Bay of Bao’an District. The passage is expected to ease traffic pressure in Qianhai with freight traffic to be diverted away from the coastline.     (Story on P3)Xinhua
