A 220 KV traction substation on the Guangdong section of the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway in Heyuan, Guangdong Province was officially put into use Monday. This is the railway’s first traction power substation. The traction power substations function to convert the incoming commercial electrical supply, as high as 220 KV, to 27.5 KV, the appropriate voltage trains can use via overhead catenary or energized third rail. The Guangdong section project runs 301.2 kilometers and is designated with a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It will have 10 stations connecting Heyuan, Huizhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen. The Ganshen Department of China Railway Electrification Engineering Group Co. Ltd. is in charge of the section’s electrical engineering, including power transformation, electrical power and catenary systems, with a budget of 1.48 billion yuan (US$230.31 million). As of May 10, 51.8 percent of the engineering has been finished with 771 million yuan invested. The 436.37-kilometer Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway, linking Shenzhen and Ganzhou in East China’s Jiangxi Province, is scheduled to be put into use at the end of this year. (SD News) |
