SPORTS facilities and equipment designed by Shenzhen enterprises have made their presence at the quadrennial athletic festival that is being held in Tokyo, Japan, Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.

One of the facilities to note is the grandstand at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field. The grandstand was built by Shenzhen firm Avant Sports Industrial Co. Ltd.

The U-shaped grandstand system is divided into three parts including the east, west and south stands. The south stand is equipped with media seats and photography and broadcasting platforms, plus a functional room encompassing an integrated control room, a lounge, a conference room and a toilet.

The east and west stands are equipped with photography and broadcasting platforms, a wheelchair platform, and a barrier-free path.

During the grandstand’s construction, Avant Sports has made a number of optimization options based on the original drawings in accordance with the field conditions, which highlight the Tokyo Olympics’ humanistic care.

On July 19, six members of the Chinese Olympic team carried out adaptability training at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field and highly praised the field.

In another sport, Yao Bianwa and Zhang Peng, two athletes with China’s national mountain bike team, trained and will compete with players from all over the world between today and tomorrow.

The bikes Yao and Zhang ride are independently developed and produced by XDS Shenzhen Xidesheng Bicycles Co. Ltd.

On Dec. 11, 2020, XDS signed a contract with the national mountain bike team and became the designated bicycle brand of the bike team.

On May 15 this year, XDS delivered the Olympic edition bikes to the national mountain bike team. These Shenzhen-manufactured bikes will debut at the Olympics and will participate in other future top international events such as the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.

According to the News report, the frame of XDS’s Olympic edition bike weighs only 1.15 kilograms and the whole bike weighs 9.6 kilograms, which is the lightest among its type in the world.

“When we cooperated with the national team, we went all out to manufacture the bike and strive for excellence in every step,” Li Chuqiao, vice chairman of XDS, said in an interview with Shenzhen Economic Daily.

The headquarters of XDS is located in Guangming District’s bicycle culture industrial park. Founded by Tan Weilong in 1995, XDS has become a leading bicycle company in China and its bikes are sold to more than 50 countries and regions around the world.
