Job fair for disabled people offers 2,100 jobs
    2021-07-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN on-site job fair for disabled people was held Friday in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Talent Innovation Park, Luohu District, offering 2,100 job vacancies covering 196 professions, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The event was jointly organized by the Shenzhen Disabled Persons Federation and the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

The event attracted over 80 companies and 456 jobseekers with disabilities. The available job positions include R&D specialists, special education teachers, office clerks, accountants, livestreaming hosts, software engineers, web designers, 3D modeling engineers and baristas. A record high 396 applicants have reached employment intent with various companies.

A job hunter surnamed Liao arrived at the job fair at 9 a.m. “It is my first time to participate in a job fair. The event was well-organized and employers are friendly. I submitted two resumes on the site. I believe I can land a job in customer service or sales,” she said.

A man surnamed Huang, a hearing-impairing person, failed to find a job and decided to try in the recruitment fair. “Finding a job is a big challenge for people with hearing disabilities. We always feel anxious for having troubles in communicating and coordinating with people. What we can do is have conversations by typing words on the phones,” Huang said.

The job fair provided career guidance for Huang, instructing him with two options — try to find a favorable full-time job for hearing-impaired people in a company, or try to start a business via the internet, like serving as a designer to communicate with clients online.

Yang Yu’e, general manager of Shenzhen’s Shitong Supply Chain Management Ltd., told the reporter that their company has 40 hardworking disabled employees. She expected the event to help them recruit more of these employees.

The in-person employment services contained employment and entrepreneurship salons, employment capacity evaluation for the disabled and one-on-one employment guide. Besides, those who could not attend the offline event can log in at the online platform https://sz.cdpee.org.cn.

Dong Xiu, Party chief of Shenzhen Disabled Persons Federation, said that the federation will help enterprises take advantage of incentive policies relating to hiring people with disabilities and explore more employment possibilities for this special group.
