“Tropical Fantasy: Selected Thai Short Films Screening” will bring Shenzhen audience members six award-wining short films by director Sorayos Prapapan and four acclaimed short films by Thai cutting-edge filmmakers, Thanakrit Duangmaneeporn, Nakhen Puttikulangkura, Phuttiphong Aroonpheng and Pimpaka Towira.

Through these short films, audience members can see social issues and emotional expressions that are not commonly seen in other Thai films.

Prapapan is renowned for the deadpan humor that pervades his films. He enjoys talking about politics in a playful way, which has framed his films in a unique form. After the Aug. 7 screening of Prapapan’s films, audience members can have an online discussion with the Thai director at the Shenzhen Broadway Cinematheque.
