‘Long Life Design’

Design buffs should head to the “Long Life Design: Thinking and Practice 2000-2020” exhibition (30 yuan) where a wide range of Japanese and Chinese products are on display. The exhibition runs until Sept. 12.

Dazu Rock Carvings

Ancient relics from the brilliant Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing Municipality are on display until Aug. 8.

He Xiangning Art Museum

Masterpieces collected by patriotic entrepreneur Liao Anxiang (1907-1997) are on display together with historical documents and photos related to the 1941 rescue of 800 patriotic intellectuals during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The exhibition runs until Sept. 15. Another exhibition, running until Oct. 10, showcases paintings created by painters in Yangzhou in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Animal Night

Shenzhen Safari Park is holding the Animal Night event on weekend nights throughout this summer. Visitors can see how animals, like tigers, kangaroos, leopards, fennec foxes and flamingos, behave at night and understand them more through staffers’ introduction. At 7:45 p.m., an actress will play a mermaid in a shark pool for eight minutes.

Hours: 6:30-9 p.m., weekends

Tickets: 59.9 yuan (valid until Aug. 1), 80 yuan (valid until Aug. 31)

Astronomical observations

The “Horizons: The Evolution of Astronomical Observations” exhibition running until Sept. 12 tells the story of the development of humans observing the sky. Visitors can admire the 100-gram lunar soil, more than 40 antique telescopes, reproductions of armillary spheres, as well as items from modern space exploration.
