A health-oriented summer camp for kids and teens, which started on July 26 and will last through August 21, opened up during the first health awareness month held in Shenzhen. The summer camp activities include online health knowledge Q & A sessions, sports exercises, and other tasks that benefit students’ health. It is worth mentioning that, unlike traditional in-person summer camps, students in this camp can finish all the tasks at home and upload what they have done by daily attendance online. Additionally, a volunteer team composed of middle school students with great leadership and knowledge about health was organized to promote health-related knowledge as a way of “peer education.” The camp organizers call for Shenzhen teenagers to participate in this 21-day summer camp to adopt a lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular physical exercise, enough sleep and other healthy habits. “Through the summer camp, you may find your kids, who are more knowledgeable about healthy life, are also physically stronger than before.” said Xiong Jingfan, head of the Shenzhen Children and Adolescent Health and Development Association. In another activity, parents are invited to attend contests aimed to promote health knowledge. (Lin Rujun) |
