A MAN surnamed Song has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to attempted rape on his female subordinate, the Daily Sunshine reported yesterday.

The woman, under the alias Xiaoxue, is a clerk of a company in Bao’an District. One day, when she was about to get off work, Song stopped her and said that they had to meet clients in the evening and he wanted Xiaoxue to go with him.

It is reported that Song and the group went to a karaoke bar after dinner, where Xiaoxue had drunk various alcohol such as red wine, beer and liquor. She threw up before she passed out in the karaoke bar.

After 11 p.m., Xiaoxue still didn’t wake up and Song called a friend to drive him and Xiao-xue to a hotel because he also drank wine.

In the dark, Xiaoxue felt someone taking off her clothes and in her drunkenness, she was too weak to do anything and went back to sleep again until she was woken up by the sound of a hair dryer in the morning.

Xiaoxue found herself naked and asked Song, who was in the same room, what had happened. Song explained that Xiaoxue had vomited on her clothes the previous night when she was drunk and he had helped her take them off and wash them.

Xiaoxue went home by Metro in disbelief. After some talks with her best friend and her long-distance boyfriend, she mustered her courage and called the police.

Song was soon arrested. In the face of the evidence submitted against him, Song admitted that he took off Xiaoxue’s clothes and wanted to assault her sexually, and confessed that he failed because he was also drunk.

The Bao’an District Procuratorate prosecuted Song in accordance with law this March. Recently, the first-instance court sentenced Song to fixed-term imprisonment of one year and two months for attempted rape.
