Tablely uses AI to know cat’s mood
    2021-08-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Here’s an interesting app specially designed for cat owners and veterinarians. Tablely is a machine learning-enabled mobile application that claims to be capable of know your pet’s mood via your smartphone’s camera.

According to the Canadian developer, Sylvester.AI, Tablely’s artificial intelligence (AI) is based on a rating tool known as Cat Grimace Scale used by scientists to identify pain in animals based on facial expressions. It allows scientists to evaluate a cat’s facial expression in real time or based on photos.

The developer explained that all users need to do is take a picture of their cats and then let the app analyze it to determine the cat’s mood. It added that Tablely’s accuracy in predicting a cat’s mood is 97 percent, provided the photos are taken in high quality.

When scanning, the app takes five facial features into account: ear position, orbital tightening, muzzle tension, whisker position and head position, all of this is processed in seconds. In addition to determining, if your cat is showing any signs of distress, Sylvester.AI claims the app could also let you know if your feline friend is feeling fine.

The developer emphasized that Tablely is the “perfect tool” for monitoring problems with your cat’s health before they become severe. “Cats are adept at hiding their pain, which leads many cat owners to misinterpret their cats’ feelings,” explained Sylvester.AI. “Our AI helps to eliminate this error.”

The app is currently in open beta and you can choose to take the tests by registering on the official Sylvester.AI website. Tablely will be available for both iOS and Android devices, although it is not known when the mobile app will officially be launched for public use. It is also noteworthy that the developer plans to roll out the technology for other animals in the near future.(SD-Agencies)
