A tour guide shows visitors the remains of the city of Baia in Italy on Wednesday. Baia was a center of hedonism for the Roman elite, 30 kilometers from Naples. Much like Las Vegas, Baia catered to the desires of the rich and powerful. The city was completely abandoned by 1500 and likely for the best since volcanic activity led to its eventual sinking. Today the ancient remains of Baia can be visited in one of the world’s few underwater archaeological parks.SD-Agencies |
