Young Chinese baritone He Liangchen and soprano Wu Lin will give a night of classic tunes from Western movies at a concert this weekend. The program will include “Playing Love” from “The Legend of 1900,” “Yesterday” from “Once Upon a Time in America,” “City of Stars” from “La La Land,” “Can you Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King,” “The Ludlows” from “Legends of the Fall,” “Think of Me” from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz,” and other familiar tunes, such as “La Vie en Rose,” “Cinema Paradiso,” “Cavalleria Rusticana,” “Somewhere in Time” and “The Merry Widow Waltz.” He graduated from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2014. He went to study at the Conservatorio Nicolu Peganini di Genoa in Italy, and graduated with full honors and received a master’s degree in opera performance. He studied under the guidance of well-known tenor Tang Zhuya and the world-renowned mezzo-soprano Gloria Scalchi. In 2019, he entered the Academia Verdiana di Teatro Regio di Parma, a special training program for promising young opera singers. Over the years, He earned numerous accolades in various domestic and international competitions, including the Sichuan Province Vocal Competition, China-Singapore Vocal Competition, Treviso International Youth Vocal Competition, Verdi International Vocal Competition and the Piero Capciri Italia International Vocal Competition. He has performed in some of the grandest theaters nationally and worldwide.
