A wonderful English talent show
    2021-08-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Chen Zhaoyi, Class 14, Senior 2, Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Shi Hui

Today, my friends and I enjoyed a great English talent show. It consisted of singing, rap, dubbing, drama, opera and comedy. What impressed us most was that it was organized and performed by students.

Although English is not our native language, the actors’ and actresses’ acting and fluent English were extremely impressive.

The first act was the song “Havana,” sung by two boys and two girls. One girl was very confident and she performed very well on the stage. The other girl sang with a husky, deep and airy voice that I like very much. Both boys and girls sang very well.

Next was a comedy called “The Adventures of Tommy.” It was a story about a taxi driver who experienced many strange, terrible and amazing events. I was amused by the actor of the main character called Tommy who is talented in performing and acting.

Then, the modern drama “Romeo and Juliet” began. To my surprise, the actors and actresses prepared so attentively that they had elaborate costumes and props to restore a sense of medieval England.

It was worth mentioning that they spoke with emotion. They even created a fight between Romeo and Paris! It was so excellent that I cheered for them several times.

The last performance was “Zootopia,” which was my favorite. The actors of the fox Nick and the rabbit Judy were just like the real animated characters in terms of voice and manners. Nick displayed a sense of laziness and coolness while Judy was an adorable and earnest rabbit police officer. What a brilliant show!

With the closing speech of the host, the English talent show drew to an end. It was a pleasure to enjoy such an incomparable show. From my point of view, it was a good opportunity to practice the students’ English abilities. Everyone on stage was charming and talented.

This activity showed that students can not only sit in the classroom studying, but also use their English to perform on the stage. It’s also a chance for students to enrich and improve their English abilities.
