Letters From Readers

ON the evening of Aug. 23 I was riding my bike from Sea World returning home and there was a very dangerous situation going on near a building next to Peninsula phase 3.

I was riding from Wanghai Road towards Houhai Avenue. There is an abandoned building and the pedestrian area is blocked so people who are walking or cycling must walk or ride next to cars on the road, bringing a high risk of accidents and deaths. There are security guards telling people that the pedestrian passage is blocked and they must go through the road. Parents with children were arguing the moment I passed by because of the dangers of navigating the road, especially with children.

Part of the problem could be solved if that section of the Shenzhen Bay park lifts the ban on bikes after 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, as other parts of the park do on the weekends. It seems like there is no standard rule for biking in the park on the weekend, causing unnecessary stress as that bikes are not allowed into the section of the park in front of Rose Garden II and Peninsula 1 while it is fine to bike in the section from Sea World to Peninsula.   Heraclito via email
