Han Ximin 1824295095@qq.com TWO local universities have advanced in the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings released last week. The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) ranked 162nd globally, marking the first time it has entered the THE World University Rankings’ top 200. SUSTech was ranked 9th nationally. The rankings made use of five performance indicators, namely teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. SUSTech performed well in its industry income and international outlook indicators, and its citations indicator ranked 33rd globally and 1st in China. As an emerging and innovation-driven university, SUSTech has topped several world university rankings. It ranked 13th on the Chinese mainland and 275th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2022. Recently, Nature Index also released its 2021 table results based on journals for the period 2019-20. SUSTech ranked 1st on the global Top 10 Rising Stars list. Shenzhen University ranked among the world’s top 400 on the THE World University Rankings and 17th on the Chinese mainland. This year, 1,662 universities from 99 countries and regions, including 97 from the Chinese mainland, were on the list. Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University made the top 5 among mainland universities. The University of Oxford tops the ranking for the sixth consecutive year. |
