    2021-09-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Ninth Art Shenzhen, with the philosophy of “Global Vision and Quality Future,” will be held in Hall 6 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District from Thursday to Sunday.

Ye Jianqiang, secretary-general of the Organizing Committee of Art Shenzhen, summarized the event’s six features, saying that this year’s Art Shenzhen is larger in scale. It will present high-quality artworks and will have optimized exhibited sections. The professional exhibition has attracted more collectors and is expected to reach comprehensive cooperation.

A total of 72 top galleries and professional art institutions from 28 cities in 12 countries will exhibit contemporary artworks from the 20th to 21st centuries, with an exhibition area of almost 9,000 square meters, making it Art Shenzhen’s largest one in scale since it started in 2013.

There are more exhibitors from countries such as the U.S., the U.K., Italy, Japan, Cuba and Singapore. Galleries and art institutions from Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Taipei and Tainan, have also registered as exhibitors for this year’s event.

The exhibition’s gallery section consists of 62 renowned institutions exhibiting around 3,000 artworks such as paintings, sculptures, decorations, photographs and videos to showcase the charm of diversified art. It also welcomes 24 “new faces” this year, including Beijing’s CLC Gallery Venture, New York City’s Crossing Art and Urumqi’s Gaotai Gallery. Thirty-eight galleries have joined again like Galleria Continua, A Thousand Plateaus Art Space, Leo Gallery and Whitestone Gallery.

These galleries will display artworks by famous local and international artists such as Chen Danqing, Mao Xuhui, Zhu Jinshi, Qiu Shihua, Cy Twombly, Anish Kappor, Julian Opie and Michelangelo Pistoletto, making the exhibition a high-level and high-quality art event.

In addition to the main gallery section, Art Shenzhen will include other sections such as Hi21 Young Art Fair, public art projects and academic forums.

Art Shenzhen 2021 also focuses on the art industry’s diversified development forms and sets up a “multi-dimensional space” and other relevant sections. The 10 institutions in the “multi-dimensional space” will present artworks from young artists and provide information about arts service, education and derivatives.

A total of six academic forums will be held Friday and Saturday to discuss about art markets, the relationship between public art and urban space, plus others. Promotional events will also be held during the exhibition.

Compared with previous events, Art Shenzhen 2021 features more attending galleries, exhibition sections and academic content. It will be a professional, diversified, contemporary art exhibition with numerous brands and rich content for professionals and art lovers, presenting a comprehensive art festival in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Entrance fee is 98 yuan (US$15). Visitors are advised to book a ticket online beforehand via the “Art Shenzhen” miniprogram. VIP preview will start tomorrow from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
