SHENZHEN will conduct a one-month inspection on off-campus tutoring agencies across the city, according to a notice released by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau. The educational agencies covered by the law enforcement campaign include those providing both academic and non-academic (such as sports, art and science) trainings for compulsory education and kindergarten students. The authority will inspect these agencies in nine aspects, such as operating without a legal business license, illegal training behaviors, unfair competition, irregular price setting, contract, advertisements, staff recruitment and safety hazards. Both online and offline academic trainings, including advanced teaching of school courses’ contents, are not allowed during national holidays, weekends, and summer and winter vacations for students undergoing compulsory education — from primary school to junior middle school. The authority will also target off-campus institutes that use false promotional methods to cheat customers. Moreover, organizations cannot charge a one-time fee for more than three months or more than 60 lessons for a single subject, according to the notice. (Wang Jingli) |
