THE Chinese Government yesterday unveiled a plan for the green development of the country’s agricultural sector over the next five years.

The plan, jointly issued by six departments including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, identified resource protection, pollution control, restoration of agricultural ecology and the development of a low-carbon agricultural industrial chain as the key tasks for the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

Tips for holidays

GATHERINGS and parties will not be encouraged during the upcoming Chinese holidays, an immunization expert said Tuesday.

“Large gatherings are not allowed,” Wang Huaqing, an expert with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a news conference organized by the State Council inter-agency task force for COVID-19 response.

People need to stay careful when traveling out of their city, according to the expert, who cited the risk of imported cases as COVID-19 ravages the world.

Endangered fish found

A RARE type of freshwater jellyfish, roughly the size of a coin, has been discovered in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The rare jellyfish, identified by experts as the Craspedacusta sichuanensis, was found by a group of children when they were playing in a park in Chengdu.

The Craspedacusta is the only freshwater jellyfish on earth and is hailed as a “living fossil” in biological evolution research, according to Zhao Li, curator of the Insect Museum of West China.
