A SERIES of SheTalks video clips featuring expat life convenience services gained popularity among the city’s expat communities with 15,000 views and 400 reposts at the official WeChat video channel and public account of Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats (MSCE) in the past two months.

The 10-episode series features easy and interesting short videos to answer the top 10 topics foreigners are most concerned about living in Shenzhen.

It covers various registrations for expats living in Shenzhen, such as temporary residence registration, and applications for a health code, a non-criminal record and e-channel in Shenzhen. It also tells expats the process for online pet registration and how to use e-bikes, handle lost passports or link bank accounts to WeChat.

Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats employees also introduced their legal assistance center for expats, the first of the type in China.

Many foreign residents appreciated these helpful videos for their daily life in Shenzhen.

Jeffry Kuperus from the Netherlands said, “I have indeed seen some of the videos and like them. It is good to know all these regulations just in case.”

Expats in China usually face challenges accessing reliable information channels due to the language barrier.

“Through our work in the past four years, we know what expats care most about living in Shenzhen, what kind of information they need and what difficulties they encounter. We explain these to them in a simple way,” said Yang Yan, director of Shekou MSCE, on Wednesday. She hopes that more people can get useful information through their short videos.

Besides SheTalks, Shekou MSCE also published a bilingual handbook for expats living and working in Shenzhen and a case study-based foreign related law popularization handbook.
