THE regional headquarters of 18 multinational companies (MNCs) were recognized and given certificates by the Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau at a hotel in Futian District on Wednesday.

Among the companies presented with the certificates were Walmart, Kareway Health Investment Group and Shenzhen Smoore Technology Ltd. They are the first batch of certified MNC regional headquarters since the Shenzhen government unveiled a spate of measures to incentivize more MNCs to establish their headquarters in the city. The recognized MNC headquarters will be rewarded based on a tiered reward system.

During the certificate-awarding ceremony, a Walmart representative spoke highly of Shenzhen’s great efforts to improve the business environment for foreign investors and said that the preferential measures and policies reinforce MNCs’ confidence in taking roots in the city.

While delivering a speech at the award ceremony, Zhang Mengfei, head of the commerce bureau, said that it is a golden time for the recognized MNCs to utilize the supporting policies and expand their investments in Shenzhen. Meanwhile, the bureau will strive to facilitate MNCs’ development and form headquarters clusters in the city.

Up to now, more than 100,000 foreign-invested enterprises have been established in Shenzhen. From January to July this year, the actual use of foreign investment in the city exceeded US$5.8 billion, a growth of more than 19 percent year on year.
