EAST China’s Fujian Province reported 22 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 13 local asymptomatic carriers Sunday, the provincial health commission said yesterday.

The confirmed cases are in the cities of Xiamen, Quanzhou and Putian, and the new asymptomatic carriers are in Putian.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University in Xiamen was put on lockdown early yesterday after a logistics staff member tested positive .

The case was detected during a routine screening, and outpatient and emergency medical services have been suspended, the hospital said in a statement.

Siming District of Xiamen City, where the hospital is located, imposed a lockdown in parts of the area, with residents ordered to stay at home and social gatherings banned.

Another positive case found in the city’s Tong’an District also led to a partial lockdown in the area. The patient surnamed Wu was a close contact of a case in the virus-hit city of Putian .

Fujian has reported a total of 43 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases since Friday. A total of 32 local asymptomatic carriers are under medical observation.
