US warned

CHINA yesterday warned the United States against any attempt to elevate relations in essence or engage in official interactions with Taiwan, including allowing the change of the name of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the United States.

China has lodged solemn representations with the United States over media reports that the Biden administration is considering allowing the Taiwan authority to rename TECRO as “Taiwan Representative Office,” the Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing.

2.15b doses administered

NEARLY 2.15 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in China as of Sunday, data from the National Health Commission showed yesterday.

Less food loss

WITH the International Conference on Food Loss and Waste closed on Saturday in Jinan, East China’s Shandong Province, the country has sent a signal to the world that China will cope with issues concerning food security by reducing loss and waste in agriculture.

With the theme of reducing food loss and food waste and promoting global food security, the three-day event held both online and offline attracted more than 300 participants including those from G20.
