SZ to award top scientists under 35

SHENZHEN will be awarding eight young scientists and 40 projects for this year’s Shenzhen Science and Technology Youth Awards, according to a list released by the Office of Shenzhen Science and Technology Awards Committee for public review.


The eight scientists are Liu Huilin, co-founder of Creality 3-D Science and Technology Holdings Co. Ltd., Wang Lei, chairman of Shenzhen Coflow Innovation Science and Technology Holdings Co. Ltd., Wang Shanshan, associate research fellow with Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technologies of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ma Xing, professor with Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Shen Yue, chief scientist with Shenzhen BGI Life Science Research Institute, Ju Bin, associate research fellow with Shenzhen  Third People’s Hospital, Niu Xinyu, CEO of Shenzhen Kunyun Information Techhology Co. Ltd., and Li Tianchi, CEO and founder of Shenzhen Dianmao Technology Co. Ltd.


The youth awards are conferred to scientists under 35, who have made major and innovative achievements and outstanding contributions in natural science research, and the effective application of innovative technologies and industrializations, or produce significant social or economic benefits in popularizing science, exchanges, industrial research and education cooperation, scientific entrepreneurial investments and science management.


In the Patent Awards category, 25 patents, including A Node Interconnect Device and Server System developed by Huawei Technologies, and the Lightning Protection System with Physical Isolation and Lightning Protection Method with Physical Isolation developed by Shenzhen Yuanzheng Technology Co. Ltd., will be awarded.


In the Standards Awards category, 15 candidates, including the Photovoltaic Glass for Architectural Use by Shenzhen Institute of Standard Technology, and Global Technical Code for Safety for Electric Vehicles by BYD, will be awarded.


Other categories of the awards are the Mayor’s Awards, Natural Science Awards and Technological Advancement Awards. This year's awards will be officially announced and presented if no problems are found during the public review.


Shenzhen has so far given out a total of 1,258 awards to individuals and science projects that have supported the development of science and technology innovation. (Han Ximin)
