English has always played an important role in our lives. Why should we learn English? I think the following reasons.

First of all, English can help us communicate with people from all over the world. Many people in Western countries speak English as their native language. Lots of people speak English as their second language and even more people speak English as their foreign language.

Therefore, English is most widely used in the world. According to statistics online, 60 percent of broadcasts in the world are conducted in English. To converse with people from other countries, we need the ability to communicate with people in English.

Second, English can help us learn current advanced science and technology in the world. Studying abroad to learn useful information for our country is a good way, which requires us to master English.

Third, English is a major subject at school and we should learn it well. Many people will take an important test in our lives, which is the National College Entrance Examination. In order to go to our ideal universities, we need to learn English to get good grades on the exam.

Fourth, the most important reason is that by learning English, we can develop our listening, speaking, reading, writing and viewing skills. Moreover, we can learn Western culture to help us understand foreigners and communicate with them smoothly. In addition, it can help us to think from the perspectives people from different groups and different countries to improve our thinking abilities. I want to emphasize that learning English can bring us convenience and a lot of benefits.

Furthermore, nowadays the internet provides us with a lot of resources such as English news, videos, songs, movies and novels. We can surf the internet to choose good articles to read, excellent songs to listen to and instructive videos to watch.
