Classical music lovers can enjoy a wide range of string music presented by China Conservatory of Music violin professor Huang Bin at three concerts in Shekou. Having won three major violin competitions — the Junior International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in 1985, the Paganini International Violin Competition in 1994 and the ARD International Music Competition in 1999, Huang has been universally lauded for her technical skills and musical interpretation. She has taught at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and her alma mater, Eastman School of Music. Huang will play Bach’s complete “Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin” at two concerts, with “Sonata No. 1,” “Partita No. 1” and “Sonata No. 3” on the afternoon of Sept. 19 and “Sonata No. 2,” “Partita No. 2” and “Partita No. 3” in the evening. Bach’s “Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin” are an essential part of the violin repertoire. Some are considered to be among the most masterly and expressive works ever written for solo violin.
