Health reminders

AS the Mid-autumn Festival and National Day holidays draw near, the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds residents to avoid traveling to areas with medium and high risk of COVID-19 and abroad during the holidays.

When traveling, citizens are advised to maintain personal protective measures and refrain from going to venues with large crowds and poor ventilation. Citizens should also undergo a 14-day self-monitoring after returning to their residences.

Music season

THE opening concert of Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra’s (SZSO) 2021-2022 music season will be held at the Shenzhen Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Friday. The new season runs from September to July next year.

The concert will be directed by Lin Daye, SZSO’s music director, and will feature performances jointly presented by famous tenor Shi Yijie and SZSO, as well as Mahler’s fifth symphony. SZSO will also work with heavyweight musicians to perform a selection of classical Chinese and Western musical works.

Man thanked

CHEN XIN, a staffer from Shenzhen Center for Prehospital Care, has received a big thank-you from the family of a 78-year-old man whom he had helped save at an expressway service area in Ruyuan, in the city of Shaoguan on July 24.

Chen promptly gave the old man CPR suffering from a cardiac arrest after his fall in front of the toilet. The old man soon regained consciousness and Chen took off after the ambulance arrived.
