GUANGMING will build 10 cultural facilities to provide high-end supporting public services to the construction of Guangming Science City, it was announced by the district authority at a news conference at Guangming District Public Service Center on Wednesday.

The 10 cultural facilities are Western Art Museum, Science City Sports Center, Guangqiao Swimming Center, Guangming Badminton Center, Guangming Folk Art Center, Yutang Cultural and Sports Center, Shangcun Cultural and Sports Center, Xinhu Cultural and Sports Center, Fenghuang Cultural and Sports Center and Matian Cultural and Sports Center.

In addition, Guangming aims to build the district known across Shenzhen for sports like badminton, soccer, as well as other outdoor activities such as cycling and climbing, according to Chen Peiqun, vice head of the district government.

Chen suggested that the cultural facility construction plan is also a response to the city’s development strategy to become a regional center for culture and an international sports center.

At the end of the news conference, Bao Xiaohong, director of Guangming District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, signed a contract with representatives from civil engineering firm Tagen Group.

The two sides will cooperate on the construction of Shangcun and Yutang cultural and sports centers. (Wang Jingli)
